Take Note: If you reduce Fructose in your diet you will minimize that stubborn body fat.
WHY?
Fructose – is a type of simple sugar that is much different than glucose (sugar).
Fructose is absorbed slower in the intestine and its absorption rate is slightly limited.
People with diabetes see fructose as a great choice simple sugar because it does not get used as quickly of efficiently but little do they know that fructose is normally consumed with glucose causing the absorptive process to speed up.
Unlike glucose, fructose can only be metabolized in the liver, whereas glucose can be passed to other body tissues like your muscles. So once fructose passes through the intestine it is quickly taken to the liver for processing. Once it has reached the liver there are 2 options: it can be turned in to liver glycogen (considering your liver glycogen levels are not full) or it is used for energy by liver cells.
So why is Fructose the problem?
Fructose only goes to your liver. If your liver glycogen levels are full, which usually is all day except for before breakfast, then that fructose will be stored in your fat deposits. This is when those stubborn areas (abdomen, lower back, thighs) accept this unwanted body fat.
Best and worst options for picking your fruit.
Fruit is beneficial because of its source of antioxidants that help fight free-radicals, a major cause of aging and muscle damage. It’s also a good source or fibre.
The following fruits are highest in fructose.
Moderation only
Apples (green)
Banana
Grapes
Kiwi fruit
Mango
Pineapple
Rockmelon
Watermelon
These fruits are lower in fructose
Apricot
Avocado
Blackberries
Blueberries
Figs
Grapefruit
orange
Papaya
Peach
Pear
Plum
Raspberries
Strawberries
Fruit is not the major source of fructose
Not all fruit are bad for your body shape.
Some major contributors to fructose in your diet are:
High fructose corn syrup (HFCS)
Table sugar
Brown sugar
Maple syrup
Cane sugar
Honey
Fruit juice
Fruits
Vegetables
So the bottom line is Fructose may be one of the major reasons your body is holding on to that unwanted body fat.
DO NOT forget about fruit altogether as it is vital for your body’s overall health/fighting free radicals/premature aging and muscle damage. Just limit the amount of high fructose options and start going for the lower fructose choices.
